What minerals are found in Blackwater QLD?
Coal.
Blackwater, located in Central Queensland, is known for its significant coal deposits. It is also frequently referred to as the ‘Coal Capital of Queensland’. However, apart from coal, Blackwater is not widely recognised for a diverse range of minerals like some other mining regions.
The Bowen Basin, in which Blackwater is situated, primarily holds extensive coal seams and has been a major coal-producing area for decades. The region’s coal mining activities are predominantly focused on thermal and metallurgical coal due to their significance for energy production and steel manufacturing.
